Improving your body means improving your body’s ability to move and function. Its not easy thing to do at first, but it will get easier. Our overall plan to improving your body’s fitness level is through exercise, coupled with the other fitness elements later throughout this book.
Exercise is something that people hate, but remember your body is built to be used, not to sit in a chair at a desk all day. It is estimated that most people don’t get the exercise that they need and that leads to all types of health problems.
Again, even if you aren’t overweight, chances are good that you aren’t getting enough exercise and fitness into your life anyway. Using your muscles and strengthening them are vital to improving health and fitness.
Start with basic aerobics and work up as your tolerance increases. Walking is a great place to start. Increase your resistance by taking trails that offer hills or speeding up your walk as you improve.
Move on to more aerobic style exercises. Swimming, bike riding, playing your favorite sport, running, elliptical machines, and other physical activities are perfect for aerobics.
Cure Of Leukaemia
A 42-year-old patient who suffered from leukaemia and HIV seems to have been cured of both diseases after a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a genetic resistance to the AIDS virus, report doctors at the Charite-Medical University in Berlin. The patient has not been taking anti-retroviral drugs after the transplant two years ago. But doctors warn bone marrow transplants can hardly be adopted as a standard mode of treatment for HIV. Donors with the genetic mutation that is resistant to the HIV virus are rare.
GREENS LINKED TO BREAST CANCER
Women with a family history of breast cancer have a 40 per cent greater risk of developing breast cancer even if they test negative for two genetic mutations-BRCA1 and BRCA2. Canadian researchers studied 1,492 women from 365 families who were tested negative for BRCA1 and BRCA2. These women had a strong family history of either two or more cases of breast caner among close relatives under the age of 50, or three cases among close relatives at any age. BRCA1 and BRCA2 account for 85 per cent of all familial breast cancer and it put women at an 80 per cent increased risk of breast cancer.
Parabens – Preservative found in color cosmetics such as lipsticks, blush, eye shadow, and foundation. This chemical has been shown to upset hormone function and has been detected in breast tumors. Contact dermatitis can occur in those allergic to parabens.
Phthalates – Used in small amounts to enhance the feel of lotions and flexibility of hairspray and nail polish. Can be listed under “fragrance.” Affects male reproductive development, resulting in birth defects.
Acetone – Gas additive and harsh solvent used to dissolve superglue. Found in significant amounts in nail polish remover, toners, and astringents. Some side effects include liver, kidney, nerve damage, and death.
Borax – Sodium Borate, and Boric Acid are used as preservatives in powders, eye creams, and skin fresheners. A harsh detergent, these chemicals can cause contact dermatitis. It’s still widely used, despite repeated warnings from the American Medical Association.
Synthetic Fragrance – This is a blanket term used by many manufacturers to hide thousands of dangerous ingredients at once. Because so many chemicals can be hidden under this label, suffice it to say that most are toxic, cancer-causing substances.
FD&C Dyes and Colorings – When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not food. FD&C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors; they’re toxic and should be avoided completely. The worst is Red #4, a color pigment proven to be dangerous to the bladder and adrenal glands.
